Announcements, Annoucements
Bishop’s Committee members have been receiving lots of feedback about the changes in process regarding the Sunday morning announcements at the 10 a.m. service. We’ve tried doing them at the end of the worship service – takes away from our worship experience and the Deacon’s admonition to go into the world rejoicing in the power of the Spirit. We’ve tried it in the Parish Hall during coffee hour – with and without a microphone – too disruptive to our wanting to talk with each other and greet newcomers who have joined us. We’ve tried no oral announcements.
Here is what we are going to do for the foreseeable future. We will have no oral announcements at the 10 a.m. Sunday service. As stated before, what this will require will be for people to provide information to Lacey in the church office by the deadlines to get announcements in the weekly Sunday Bulletin, the Benedictions and/or through other electronic media. It is a change in behavior and practice for us; however, it truly does ensure that the information gets the broadest attention. In the meantime, the Bishop’s Committee and Vicar are drafting a policy to give us all guidance on the type of announcements that areappropriate to publish. Thank you all for your feedback. Please talk to any member of the Bishop’s Committee about announcements – or any of your ideas, questions or concerns.
