In Thanksgiving for the Work of the Hands of Christ in This Place

Since last August, a group of parishioners have been coming together to pray about the ministry of Outreach in this place. How can we focus and best serve this community of Lacey?  What gifts and skills do we have?

This group, called the Outreach Discernment Group, worked with the Rev. Jerry Shigaki and led by Jim Zabel of the Bishop’s Committee. They helped to host the Harvest Sunday in October where we as a parish had the opportunity to name what we were passionate about in regards to being the Hands of Christ in our larger South Puget Sound community. The discernment group’s work on Harvest Sunday was to take notes and to then make recommendations for the future of  Outreach in this place.

Those notes will now be handed onto the Bishop’s Committee and the Strategic Planning Group so that we can begin to focus and redevelop the ways that we are the Hands of Christ in our community. You can look for changes to Outreach in 2008 and expect to hear more at our Annual Meeting from our strategic planning group about outreach over the next six years.

We are grateful to this Outreach Discernment Group who did this work in a short period of time.  They are: Maureen Paxton Mike Flothe Sue Anderson Pam Raymond Meredith Blundell Pat Basta Jim Zabel Antony Xczar.

Thank you. Well done good and faithful servants.
