Being the Hands of Christ in the World through the Medical Relief Fund

Did you know that St. Benedict has a special fund for families who have sick children.  So often, families that are facing a child’s illness or a chronic condition have a difficult time financially.  Many years ago, our church put together a fund which helps families in Thurston county with costs that are non-medically related.  For example: a family is traveling back and forth everyday to the  Children’s Hospital because staying at a hotel might be too expensive, or the costs of driving and balancing an ill child with work schedules can become very difficult as well financially challenging. Our medical relief fund can help families pay for hotel stays, food, gasoline and other expenses.

Our Medical Relief Fund recently helped a local family purchase a motorized scooter for their child who lives with a debilitating disease that doesn’t allow her to walk anymore.

This year, St. Benedict has given away $1000 to help families in Thurston County through our Medical Relief Fund.
