Pastoral Care
In 2007: Pastoral Care was comprised of two-four people.
Goal: Members will have an effective lay led pastoral care network to use when they are in need. 95% of all requests for pastoral care will be completed within two days of request initiation.
In 2009: Our Pastoral Care team is comprised of over 10 members that visit with Eucharist, provide both get well cards and seasonal cards to our members that are sick and might not make it to church on a regular basis.
We are currently working on recruiting more members for our Soup Group. That group delivers soup to those in need. We are also working on creating a phone network for our older members to call and check in with a friend on an ongoing basis so that members do not fall through the cracks.
The Scope of our Pastoral Care is that we bring Eucharist to those who can not make it to church. We also provide cards and soup or casseroles to those in need.

Worship
In 2007: We offered an 8 &10:00 Eucharist and were in transition with our music director.
In 2009: We now offer services at 8 &10:30 with formation in between services. We also offer a 5:30 Sunday Service designed by young adult using expansive language. We have hired a new professional musician and are working on using the AGO (American Guild of Organists) to pay a fair wage.
Goal that we continue to work on: At St. Benedict, members and those living in the broader community will find a number of creative worship opportunities form which to choose. Number of opportunities to worship musically has increased by 25%. Attendance at alternative worship services will increase by 10%

Children’s Formation
In 2007: We offered Sunday School and Children’s Church. We were in transition and looking for a quarter time youth minister.
In 2009: We hired and called Jan Akin, a long time church youth professional. She has started a youth group for Jr. High and Sr. High as well as a separate one for Elementary Aged children. Sunday School and Children’s Church are streamlined into one Sunday School program that meets from 10:30-11:15ish and is a parent/volunteer run program.
Increased opportunities for children to explore, expand & deepen relationship with God through study, discussion and fellowship.
v Number of opportunities will increase by 25%.
v Number of children attending formation opportunities will increase by 50%.

Adult Formation
In 2007: We had two adult formation programs: Growing in Christ & the Wednesday Morning Book Study. We also had a lively Lenten Soup program.
In 2009, the above two programs continue and we have four small groups going for adults: Knitting Group, Yoga, Movies and Wood-working. We have interest in a chant group but not the leadership at this time. We’ve expanded our Lenten Soup Program and now a have a once a month Fall Soup Formation Program.
Needed: Leaders who would like to facilitate small groups or other formational opportunities at St. Benedict (Bible Study etc.)
Adult Formation Increased opportunities for children to explore, expand & deepen relationship with God through study, discussion and fellowship.

Areas of Ministry that need further development:
Stewardship
IN 2007: St. Benedict Stewardship = our Fall Campaign Earth Ministry Group began developing some goals Fall campaign was done by Bishop’s Committee
In 2009: Fall Campaign has leadership from the congregation including: Liz Grabler, Janice Chandler, Teresa Tilson,
In Spring, St. Benedict held Funeral Directives class for members and made plans to go have one at Panorama as well.
Earth Ministry developed building policy for green development, held regular quarterly workshops on environment including water conservation and reducing carbon waste.
Parishioners of St. Benedict will understand and respond to broader nature of stewardship.
v Number of parishioners involved in stewardship leadership will increase by 75%.
v Number of parishioners on earth ministry committee will increase by 50%.

Outreach
In 2007: We hosted one dinner a month
In 2009: We are holding two food banks and one dinner a month with volunteers coming from our own church as well as other churches and organizations. We have hired Andrew to help us further develop our leadership of outreach overall.

Newcomers & Hospitality
In 2007: We offered Greeters to our newcomers and invited people to sign our book.
In 2009: We have greeters as well as BC members each and every week inviting people to wear name tags and greeting guests as they come through the door. We called a second part time priest who will help to develop a process for integrating new comers into our community and will design a series of classes for new members.
Goal: An improved, seamless process of welcoming and integrating newcomers into our community is in place. All newcomers will feel welcomed.
v 90% of all newcomers will become members.
v 90% of all newcomers will attend newcomer classes.
Buildings & Grounds:
In 2007 we had a one person building committee and a smaller team of people tending our grounds.
In 2009, we have paid our mortgage off, we have a team of people who tend our grounds and take care of building.
In 2010, we will:
Form a building commission to engage our church in considering the needs of our ministries and remodeling or rebuilding our church edifice.
Contract a Building Inspector to advise on developing a maintenance plan for our building.
Buildings & Grounds While adequately maintaining the present facility, St. Benedict will have a capital plan for meeting our long-range strategic needs.

Communication & Coordination:
In 2007 we had a website and newsletter
In 2009, we continue to have a website & newsletter as well as a process for communication with announcement forms for our office and a weekly update and seasonal signs/posters for events. In addition, quarterly meetings are held for all ministry leaders to calendar and talk about upcoming events. More coordination & efforts are needed to improve communication. Bulletin Boards for areas of ministry will soon be added as well as Quarterly listening sessions with our Bishop’s Committee in 2010.
Communication & Coordination Effective communication will be considered a priority by all church leaders at St. Benedict.

Human Resources
In 2007: We had a one person Personnel Commission
In 2009: we have a lay led Personnel Commission that has written & will recommending to the BC a policy for safe-guarding our children youth and vulnerable adults. They have also created a schedule for Mutual Ministry Reviews for all staff and Deacons of St. Benedict.
In 2010, the Vicar will work on establishing guidelines for all Ministry Lay and Clergy Leaders.
Human Resources Staff and volunteer resources will be well managed.
v 90% of activities and projects initiated by St. Benedict will have sufficient staff carry them out.
v 90% of church staff will remain in their positions for 3 or more years.
Financial Planning and Fund Raising
In 2007, we had our last Edinburgh Fair
In 2009, new leadership from our Bishop’s Committee work on a fund raising strategy that will be revealed in early 2010.
Strategic plan is the basis for all planning.
v 100% of all ministry groups at St. Benedict will be able to provide documentation of alignment to strategic plan including financial implications of any and all projects undertaken.
Ministry of Arts & Music
Grow the ministry of music and art in the parish.
In 2007, we were in transition with our musician and had no visual art guidelines or group to speak of.
In 2009, we have called Susan Bloomfield to be our Musician and we are currently forming an Arts group that will establish guidelines for visual art at St. Benedict. In addition, several new pieces of art have been donated by artist members of St. Benedict.
