Let There Be Peace

Perhaps you are familiar with a song that starts with, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” It can you know – begin with you. You don’t even have to be Miss America. You can join a growing number of peaceful people who participate in Interfaith Works’ 24 Hour Community Meditation for Global Peace.

This annual event begins at noon on the first Saturday in August, rain or shine, and brings together all kinds of people who wish to join others in silent prayer or meditation for peace. Founder/coordinator Dickie Baker provides participants with inspirational peace quotes from many traditions. A singing bowl rings to mark each hour. Participants sit on blankets, folding chairs, or the grass. Some come for an hour or two, others stay all twenty-four hours.

For more information about the 24-hour meditation, visit our Community Meditation for Global Peace web page at www.Interfaith-Works.org/cmgp1.hyml. Join this peaceful community. Experience the peace of shared silence with a shared purpose. Come to the Tivoli Fountain on the Capitol Campus between noon August 4 and noon August 5.
